Data mining is the process of finding meaningful information from generous volumes of data. Goal mining is to find veiled trends in the data. Customers may be buying behavior, sales trends, finding the new cross-selling opportunities and more. Data mining is the process step step starts with understanding the business and ends with the possible solution to the problem at hand. CRISP-DM is widely known data mining industry standard and used by most of the establishment that provides data mining services. There are six phases in CRISP-DM.

  1. Business Understanding
  2. Data Preparation
  3. Understanding Data
  4. Modeling
  5. Evaluation Model
  6. Deployment

These steps are interactive diagram (interactive @ target = "_blank" href = "http://www.vbams.com/VBAMS/Datamining.html"> http://www.vbams.com/VBAMS/Datamining.html), which means you can return anytime to the previous the boards. For example, in the modeling phase is not yet certain about trends in the data, then you can go back to phase data for understanding properly be with you the trends in the data.

Business Understanding: This is the first step in CRISP-DM Model and includes

– Be with you the business process requirements

– Be with you the problem

– Plot how to solve the problem, considering the resources in hand.

– Define the objectives and goals of what will be achieved.

Data Description: This is the second phase in the CRISP-DM model includes

– Go through the historical data

– Try to relate the data to each other

Trends – Find veiled data (not too deep)

Data Preparation: This is the third phase in the CRISP-DM model, and includes

– In "Data Understanding" present phase and collect historical data we have (the sample data).

– At this the boards, the plot of the data in the desired shape.

– Handle missing data and noisy (in the next article I will discuss in detail about how to handle noisy and missing data, so check this out.)

Modeling: Fourth phase of CRISP-DM model

– Develop models for predicting the future

– Try different modeling techniques.

– Try different parameters to improve results

– Select the models that look appropriate at this the boards and assess the next phase.

Assessment Model: Fifth phase of CRISP-DM model

– Vital Step in the CRISP-DM model

– Model should be evaluated in terms of response time, confidence level, cost, error rate, and many others

– Determine how this model is useful in achieving the goals and objectives defined in the first the boards.

Implementation: Final phase of CRISP-DM model

– Start intelligence, so that the end user can easily use this model to improve business performance.

Unique thanks to the team org CRISP-DM, which are making efforts in building CRISP-DM 2.0 for the industry.
