business process narrative

"Regardless of company size, the concerns of executive management are essentially the same."
– Bryce's Law
I was recently at a meeting of self-determining consultants from around the Tampa Bay area and we talk about the concerns of small business owners. From this, we have prepared a list of leisure activities command the attention of small and standard business owners, namely:
- Employees / Human Resources – staffing and payroll, benefits, and management.
- Work environment – facilities and gear, corporate culture.
- Systems – the implementation of business processes busily and to keep abreast of technological advances for benefit competitive.
- Regulation – that meets the standards set by government and industry concerns.
- Time Management – Programming and devote time to the right set of priorities.
- Financial resources – management and cash flow plotting and investments for optimal returns investment.
- General Plotting and Strategy – both small and long term, including a market analysis and competition.
At the end of this session, we learned that the concerns of small business owners are not essentially different from generous enterprises, except a much smaller scale. The only difference is that the small business owner has to go quicker than their counterparts in business simply because of the size of its operation. For example, do not have time to read voluminous business plans and financial statements. Instead of requiring that the summary intelligence that get to the point in a couple of pages. He needs excellent, sound information support to make your life simpler.
This made me reckon about the amount of time and money, executives companies to invest in managing the affairs of his company. It is right that some equipment require much time and effort to research, including research of new products / services and read-through market conditions, but most of what is done is what I refer to as "meatball" type analysis should be simple and relatively inexpensive to prepare. Let me give an example, a couple of years ago I worked with a Fortune 500 company that had contracted with another company to yield a Business Systems Plot. This took several months to complete and resulted in a substantial document of more than three feet thick (no kidding) that costs the company $ 1.5 million. I was questioned to browse the document and give an opinion. Only took me a couple of minutes to learn the author had reused narrative of projects for other clients in the document and that most of that was unnecessary. But that was very thick and in black and white on some pretty impressive for paper, gave the company felt it had achieved the value of their money from the consultants. Fascinatingly, the company by no means acted on the information contained in the document simply because it was so bulky and could not find their way through it. Indeed, a ten-page report may have satisfied the needs of the company, but I guess you can not collect $ 1.5 million for a ten-page document right?
The point of all this is that the size of a company really not related to the concerns of implementers. They are essentially the same. Moreover, no business owner has the time or the inclination to be devoured by the details. While details are vital to substantiate their claims summary intelligence are more effective in at the bottom of the needs of owners business. They simply want accurate and dependable information to act in whatever form it takes, but preferably not three feet thick.
